OPERATING GUIDELINES

a]   the tank valves are normally
left open unless a tank has a
leak, then the valve should be
closed to isolate the tank.

b]   to remove water by the
water truck: back up truck in
right hand side lane / North side
of Lab  to 2" receiver near the
1500 gal tank. Take care not to
run over the water line trench in
line with the 2" ball valve!  This
will systematically bring down
the levels of "both" tanks so
the tanks can be evenly filled
back up with rain water. "A"

c]   EMERGENCY WATER USE:
1]   open the 2"  main supply
valve at 1500 gal tank.
2]   Open "A" valve East side of
generator shack.
3]   Purge any air from back up
line. (see hose inside)
4]   Close valve "B" to main
supply line. (close 6" valve only
if the line is broken from
storage to supply end)
5]   If seriously low on water,
close Lab Valve #3.
6]   All other valves to stay as is.
7]   MONITOR water level in
tanks!!! SHUT SYSTEM down if
water runs low in these tanks!

Rain Water From Heaven
Drinking water for Palmyra is
supplied from rain water (for
the emergency system) and
from the roof of the 80K net
concrete tank over by the
North Beach path. The water
is fed via pipeline to the Gen
Building where it's filtered &
purified by UV filters before it
enters the water system.
The 100K tank is a left over
from by gone WWll days.
